Imagine exploring two of Morocco’s most iconic cities while experiencing the raw beauty of the Sahara Desert. A Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour 4 Days offers just that. Every moment feels like an adventure, from the winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains to the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. This journey blends breathtaking landscapes, culture, camel rides, and the unforgettable magic of a luxury desert camp under the stars.
The four-day desert tour starts with a pick-up. Our driver will wait for you at your riad or hotel in Marrakesh. We will then set off for the Dades Gorges, passing through Tizi-n-Tichka in the High Atlas Mountains.
We will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, which has been the backdrop for many films, including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander.
After lunch, we will visit the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Then, we will head southeast through the Roses Valley, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. We will also pass through the Berber villages of Kelaat M’Gouna and Boumalene Dades. We will spend the night in a hotel.
There is more to do in the Sahara than you might think! After breakfast, you leave for the Dades Gorges via the valley. You will stop to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Then, continue to Tinghir. It’s 20 km past there to the fabulous Todra Gorges. Walk around the “Gorges” in your free time and enjoy the river and the fantastic views. Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant.
After lunch, we drive to Tinjedad, which has an old underground irrigation system. Then, we visit a local fossil craft workshop in Erfoud. We continue to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also known as the Dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and overnight are in the Merzouga Riad/Hotel.
It’s the third day, but the adventure of the Sahara Desert tour has begun! After breakfast, we’ll set off for Erg Chebbi, Merzouga. We’ll enjoy the desert landscapes and pass the gravestones of Taouz. We’ll then hear the Gnawa music of Khamlia. We’ll have lunch in a small restaurant.
Then, we drive to the hotel for refreshments before a 90-minute camel ride through the golden dunes to reach the campsite ( standard or Luxury—depends on your budget ). Enjoy the sunset, sandboarding, and dining before enjoying the Berber ambiance around the fire and stargazing. ( Alternatively, request your driver to take you to the campsite with a 4WD vehicle.)
Our staff will wake you up before sunrise, and you will climb the dunes for great photo ops. We will return to the hotel for showers and breakfast before leaving for Fez. We’ll pass through Erfoud, the Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and cedar forests, where we will pass to see wild monkeys.
Then, we’ll continue to Ifrane and, finally, Fes, where this four-day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech to Fes ends with a drop-off at your riad. We genuinely hope you enjoyed the trip with our team!
A private tour offers a personalized experience. You can enjoy flexible schedules, cultural interactions, and travel at your own pace.
In conclusion, a four-day tour from Marrakech to Fes is more than a trip. It’s an unforgettable journey. In bustling souks, you’ll gather amazing memories at a dune, and you’ll gather awaits to be discovered. So, pack your bags and set off on an adventure. It will captivate your senses and broaden your horizons.
Marrakech / Fes
While possible, a day trip to the desert from Marrakech is not recommended. The nearest desert, Agafay, is about 1 hour away but doesn’t offer the full Sahara experience. For true desert landscapes, a multi-day tour is best.
The nearest desert-like landscape, Agafay, is about 30 km from Marrakech. However, the iconic Sahara dunes at Merzouga are approximately 560 km away, requiring a journey of 8-9 hours by car.
Popular stops between Marrakech and Fes include The Famous Kasbah Of Ait Benhaddou, Dades Gorges, Todra Gorges, Merzouga the Sahara desert, Ifrane (Morocco’s “Little Switzerland”), the cedar forests of Azrou, the Ziz Valley, and the town of Midelt. These stops offer diverse landscapes and cultural experiences along the journey.
