4 Days tour from Marrakech to Fes itinerary

Day 1Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Kasbah Ben Haddou - Dades Valley

The 4-day desert tour starts with a pick-up. Our driver will wait for you at your riad/hotel in Marrakesh. We will then set off for the Dades Gorges. We will pass through Tizi-n-Tichka in the High Atlas Mountains.

We will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou there. It has been the backdrop for many films, like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander. After lunch, we’ll visit the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate.

Then, we’ll head southeast through the Roses Valley, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. We’ll also pass through the Berber villages of El Kelaa M’Gouna and Boumalene Dades. Where will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Tinjdad - Erfoud — Merzouga

There is more to do in the Sahara than you might think! After breakfast, you leave for the Dades Gorges via the valley. You will stop to enjoy the spectacular scenery. Then, continue to Tinghir. It’s 20 km past there to the fabulous Todra Gorges. Free time to walk around the “Gorges” and enjoy the river and the fabulous views. Lunch at a local restaurant.
After midday, we drive to Tinjedad. It has an old, underground irrigation system. Then, we visit a local fossil craft workshop in Erfoud,  Continuing to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also known as the Dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and overnight in Merzouga Riad/Hotel.

Day 3Merzouga Desert Tour – Erg Chebbi – Berber tent

It’s the third day, but the adventure of the Sahara Desert tour has begun! After breakfast, we’ll set off for Erg Chebbi, Merzouga. We’ll enjoy the desert landscapes and pass the gravestones of Taouz. We will then hear the Gnawa music of Khamlia. We will have lunch in a small restaurant owned by a Gnawi person.

Then it is a short drive to a nearby hotel for some refreshments before a camel ride into the desert. All unnecessary luggage will be left in safe rooms at the hotel. The 90-minute camel trek will take us to a Berber camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in North Africa. The camp has several comfortable Berber tents. They have mattresses and linen. It also has a restaurant, a kitchen, and a ‘natural’ toilet. The evening will include dinner and then campfire entertainment by Berber drums.

Day 4Merzouga - Fes

A long drive today. Before sunrise, you will be woken up to climb the dunes for great photo ops. We will then make our way back to the hotel for showers and breakfast before setting off for Fez. We’ll pass through Erfoud, the Ziz Valley, Medilt, and the cedar forests and monkeys of Azrou.
