This 6 days in Morocco itinerary from Casablanca offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and adventure, ensuring an unforgettable journey.
Our adventure begins in Casablanca, where we’ll pick you up from Casablanca airport or your hotel and head to northern Morocco towards the picturesque Rif Mountains. Upon arriving in Chefchaouen, known for its blue-painted streets and buildings, you can explore and capture unforgettable photos. Enjoy your stay overnight in a local riad or hotel.
After breakfast, we set off to Fes, the cultural heart of Morocco. Along the way, we’ll visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a partly excavated Berber city. Once in Fes, you can explore the lively medina, known for its historic architecture and bustling markets. Spend the night in a comfortable riad or hotel.
After breakfast, our local informative guide will take you on an adventure through Fes (or Fez), the intellectual, cultural, and spiritual capital of Morocco. Fes is primarily known for the Fes El Bali, or walled medina, another UNESCO site, with its medieval architecture, vibrant souks, and old-world atmosphere. We start outside the medina to see the royal palace gate, then walk through the Jewish quarter, or “the millah,” the first Jewish quarter built in the country.
Following that, you will enter the medina to experience the sensory-stimulating souks—exotic spices, vibrant materials, and beautiful metalworks are just some of the sights you will experience. As well as spending the morning wandering by the souks, you will visit sites with cultural and historical interest, including the famous Medrasa Bouanania, Moulay Idris, the el-Karaouine Mosque, and the University, the oldest in the world (and built by a woman). You will also visit the famous tanneries and the Najjarine Fountain.
After a Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant in the heart of the medina, you will be driven to one of the fortresses to experience an amazing panoramic view of the entire medina. From there, we will visit a pottery cooperative. Time permitting, we will take a drive through the modern Fes drive to experience a different atmosphere. Overnight accommodation at your hotel or riad.
After breakfast, we will start traveling south to the Merzouga Desert via Midelt and Errachidia. Your first stop will be at Ifrane city, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and then to Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley. During this journey, you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas Mountains.
Stopping at the famous cedar forest—the largest one in Morocco—where you will have the opportunity to see the Barbarian apes. You will notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach Er Rachidia city. After lunch in Midelt, your journey continues along the spectacular Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way.
Later on, arrive at our destination, where you will ride your camel to see the sunset in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend the night there. Overnight at our camp, where you will have your dinner. (well-equipped desert luxury camp, including dinner and breakfast.).
Wake early to admire the desert sunrise, have breakfast, then transfer out of the dunes by camelback to rejoin your vehicle to take the road to Fes (or if you are traveling by 4×4, you can be collected at the camp).
Then we will start our journey driving to the Dades Valley via the Todgha Valley and Gorges, where we will stop for pictures of the kasbahs built by Jews. You’ll have a chance to walk through the stunning Todgha Gorges before carrying on to the Dades Valley. Overnight in Dades Valley, including dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll drive to Marrakech via the Dades Valley again, with its dramatic rock formations and ancient kasbahs, and then on to the Rose Valley, known for its damask roses that are harvested in May.
Continuing on our journey, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, known as African Hollywood, where you can see the Taourirt Kasbah and tour the movie studios. We’ll then continue to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the largest ksar in Morocco, where movies like The Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Jewel of the Nile were filmed.
Then we carry on to Marrakech through the Tichka Pass, one of the highest Atlas mountains in North Africa. Arriving in Marrakech by the afternoon.end of the 6-day Morocco trip at your accommodation.
Casablanca/ Marrakech
While a 6 days tour can provide a worthwhile experience in Morocco, the extent of your enjoyment will depend on your travel goals. In this time, you can cover major highlights, but extending your stay allows for a more comprehensive exploration. Consider your interests to determine if 5 days will be enough or if you would benefit from a longer one.
This is a wonderful question! The vehicles we use depend on the number of travelers in your group. We usually use a modern Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford 7-seater minivan, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus that can seat eight to seventeen passengers, as well as other comfortable automobiles.
The distance between Casablanca and Chefchaouen is 430 km. The road distance is 339.6 km. Approximately 5 hours drive.
I strongly suggest engaging in a once-in-a-lifetime experience with this company. The staff, including Ibrahim and Aziz, are amazing. They were very friendly and helpful in everything we needed. They truly made us feel at home. I traveled with my parents and sister, and they were all beyond grateful for the whole trip. We took a 6 day trip from Casablanca to Rabat, Fes, and Chefchaouen; 2 days in the Sahara desert; the Todra Gorges; the Atlas mountains; and Marrakech.
The desert camel trek was worth it—one of my favorite memories! The guide always accompanied us, ensuring our safety. Arriving at the camp in the desert is amazing. The camp is luxurious and has everything you need. We heard Berber music and had Moroccan food at the camp.
We had a wonderful time sandboarding and dancing on the dunes. The trip to the Sahara Desert was the highlight.
The hotels we stayed in throughout the entire trip were excellent, clean, in convenient locations, with friendly staff, delicious food, and a relaxing atmosphere.
I depart from Morocco with a profound sense of attachment to this country, a sentiment I can only attribute to the exceptional guidance of Ibrahim and Aziz. I will never forget this trip and wish I could come back soon with my husband and sons.
My wife and I had the best experience with them. Ibrahim meticulously crafted a 6 days itinerary that met all our requirements. We departed from the Marrakech airport, where our driver and guide, Hassan and Ayoub, guided us to the Atlas Mountains, Dades Valley, the Sahara Desert, Berber village, and Fez, before concluding our journey in Chefchaouen. Everything was perfect, and we had the best time! We really recommend this company.
