Starting in bustling Marrakech, you will make your way through the dramatic High Atlas Mountains to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. Along the way, you will discover Berber villages, the stunning Dades Valley, and the Todra Gorges.
In addition to these spectacular sites, you will also have the chance to go on a camel trek in Merzouga and spend a night in a Sahara desert camp. A guided tour of Fes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, and a trip through the vibrant blue town of Chefchaouen make this private desert tour a truly remarkable experience!
Our driver will pick you up at 8 am at your Marrakech Riad/hotel; he will take you to the 4WD and depart from Marrakech for the Dades Valley through the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2260 m) in the Atlas Mountains. From Marrakech to Dades Valley, you will enjoy the scenic drive, beautiful landscapes with different colors, and the Berber villages along the way. You will have free time here to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, the Ouarzazate Atlas Studio, Taourirt Kasbah, and have lunch.
Afterward, you go further southeast to the verdant Boumalne Dades and the Rose Valley via the fascinating Skoura Palms grove. Dinner and overnight in Dades Valley
After breakfast, you can walk through the valley before going to the very different Todra Gorges. Lunch will be here in the gorges or later on the way to Merzouga. We drive there via the Tafilalte Valley and the villages of Tinjdad and Erfoud.
In the afternoon, you will have the adventure of an hour of camel riding in the Sahara. We will pause to see the spectacular sunset from the top of the dunes. Overnight in a Sahara Desert luxury camp.
We’ll wake you up early to see the sunrise at the dunes, eat breakfast, and ride a camel to the dunes’ edge. Our driver will then take you through Errachidia province, passing Erfoud to Ziz Valley and Gorges, where we’ll stop for photos.
Lunch will be at Midelt. Through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, there is an opportunity to see the Barbary Apes, one of the only native monkeys of the Atlas Mountains. Our journey continues toward Ifrane and the mountains before ending at Fes. Overnight in a riad in the medina.
Enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour in Fes, the oldest of Morocco’s four “Imperial Cities.” The medieval city of Fes El Bali, the “Old Fes,” remains complete and is unspoiled. During your tour of this part of the town, you can visit the exotic Bou Inania Madrassa, the Medina, and the Karaouine Mosque, where you may take photos of the wonderful courtyard from the main gate and the famous souks.
After lunch, we will drive for four hours through the Rif mountains to reach Chefchaouen, northern Morocco’s beautiful blue town, located in the hills. You will have free time to explore its winding lanes and narrow alleys, home to numerous souks offering cuisine and artisan works—overnight in Chefchaouen.
On our last day of the tour in Morocco, you will have a free morning to explore the beautiful town of Chefchaouen before we drive you to Tangier and drop you off at your hotel, the airport, or the port where this 5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Tangier ends.
