We pick you up from your hotel around 8:00 A.M. to kick off our 3-day trip from Marrakech to Fes. Our journey begins with a drive through the High Atlas Mountains. As we ascend Tizi N-Tichka, Morocco’s highest pass, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views and photo opportunities of quaint Berber villages nestled in the mountainside.
Our next stop is the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for films like Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven. After exploring the kasbah, we’ll pause for lunch. Then, we travel to Ouarzazate, known as “the gate of the desert,” to explore the majestic Taourirt Kasbah.
Next, we head to Roses Valley, passing the lush Skoura palm grove, home to over 700,000 palms and various kasbahs. The valley is renowned for its Damascene roses, which are used to make rosewater. Every May, the area hosts the vibrant Roses Festival. We end the day in Dades Valley, where we spend the night.
After breakfast, we’ll admire the stunning vistas of Dades Valley from a mountain lookout. We then travel to Tinghir and reach the Todra Gorges, famous for their towering rock walls and popular with climbers. You’ll have time for a stroll here.
We’ll have lunch in Tinejdad or Touroug before continuing to Erfoud, a city known for its fossils, which are crafted into beautiful items. Our journey then takes us to the Merzouga Desert, a highlight of our tour.
Upon arrival, a camel guide leads us across the Erg Chebbi dunes, the tallest in the world, stopping to watch a spectacular sunset. You can try sandboarding if you wish. We then continue to the campsite, welcoming you with mint tea.
After settling into your Berber tent, enjoy a traditional dinner followed by a Berber celebration with music and dance. End your evening stargazing on the dunes.
We start our final day early to witness a magical sunrise over the desert. Enjoy breakfast and some sandboarding before heading back to the hotel. Our drive takes us through the beautiful Ziz Valley, known for Morocco’s second-largest palm tree oasis.
Passing through villages with bustling bazaars, we head to Midelt, famous for its apples. We’ll stop for lunch in the small town of Zaida. Continuing our Marrakech to Fes 3-day tour, we travel through the Cedar Forest, home to cherry trees, Barbary apes, and Berber horses.

Marrakech/Fes
Fes includes more than an 8-hour drive on the last day.
Morocco is generally a safe country for tourists. However, exercising caution and being aware of your surroundings is always good.
We had a great 3-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga (for a night in the desert) ending up in Fes. Making arrangements with Ibrahim — from initial email inquiry to booking — was a breeze, and he answered all our naive questions as first-time travelers to Morocco. Our guide Youssef was friendly, and charming, and took care of our every need while sharing his firsthand experiences as the child of Berber nomads. The accommodations and meals along the way were all pleasant surprises. Highly recommended!
